Browser Sound Synthesis
How the web app creates a playable bell sound without relying on one fixed audio loop.
The web app does not simply replay one recording. It combines synthetic resonance modes with short strike transients. This makes the bell interactive: a change in wall thickness, clapper weight, strike zone, distance, or weather can change the result without needing a separate audio file for every case.
The short attack of a bell is noisy and complex: the clapper touches bronze, high frequencies flash briefly, and the room begins to respond. After that, the slower modal ringing becomes more important. The project therefore combines both parts.
What the sound engine combines
- Modal frequencies and decay times for the sustained ringing.
- Strike layers for lower bow, middle bow, and upper flank positions.
- Soft, medium, and hard intensity variants for the attack.
- A bell-chamber impulse response to add an immediate room impression.
